Small House Design Charrette PDF Print E-mail

Thanks to a generous grant from the College Hill Alliance, Historic Macon recently partnered with Macon-based architect Bob Brown, AIA, of BTBB Architecture to lead a community design charrette.  The purpose of the charette is to design three new houses around 1,000 square feet to build in Beall's Hill, the location of Historic Macon Foundation's current neighborhood revitalization project.  On March 3, 2011, Maconites gathered at the Cox Capitol Theatre to give their ideas about living in small houses.  The audience was polled for their opinions, and the results were compiled into graphs showing how people would live in small houses.  Bob Brown then used his design skill and artistic vision to create three preliminary house designs.  The second part of the charrette is online and up to you: click on the links below to view each of the proposed house plans and give us your comments, critiques, endorsement and/or suggestions regarding these plans.  Based on your comments, the plans will be finalized and constructed in Beall's Hill using the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Revolving Fund for Beall's Hill.
